Nowhere is the world to my thinking so gracious as between the green woodlands of Earlstoun and the grey Duchrae Craigs.
Glimpses of the Glenkens
This year will see six contributions to the Glenkens Gazette titled 'Glenkens Glimpses.' In case you can't access that august publication, we will also publish them here. (And if time permits, add some more) If members want to write their own Glenkens Glimpses we would be happy to publish them alongside!
GLIMPSES OF THE GLENKENS
The Glenkens are Crockett’s heartland in every respect. He wrote: ‘I have been most successful when I have "lee'd at lairge…truth to tell, many of my "lees" were grounded in this parish.’ With a talent for popular fiction, one should not underestimate the sophistication of his writing. His particular strengths lie in the keen observation of the places and people he fictionalises. A series of glimpses offers the modern reader an insight into the history, adventure and romance of Crockett’s Glenkens.
